SAMSET undertook a survey of energy use in high, mid and low income households in Cape Town.
The survey examines energy use for cooking, hot water heating, space heating, lighting, media and mobility. The findings reveal that electricity access is good but the city must formalise all connections, address thermal performance, continue to promote energy efficiency and radically improve mobility.
