At a recent SALGA-SEA workshop municipalities discussed how to improve the delivery of the Free Basic Electricity (FBE) grant. The workshop built capacity on FBE policy development, targeting approaches, Eskom’s responsibilities, indigent registers, data management and tariffs. A key challenge is the cost of supplying electricity services to indigent customers. More information and resources can be found here.
